The POLISH HUNGARIAN WORLD FEDERATION and Affiliates (the “PHWF”) is as of June 23, 2017 once again officially recognized as a not-for-profit corporation in the State of Illinois, USA. As part of the reconstitution of PHWF the Executive Board had deemed it important to hold an inaugural meeting.
Therefore, the Board thought it only fitting to award the first new Membership Certificate to Laszlo Tokay who was a founding member in 1968 with founder Dr. Karol Ripa. Laszlo Tokay, now 94 years young, accepted this certificate from Csaba Zongor, first Youth Chairman and current President of the PHWF. This very special event was held on Sunday, September 17 at the Sheridan Shore Yacht Club located at 20 Harbor Dr.,Wilmette, IL.
This wonderful venue was arranged for by Romuald J. Poplawski, Vice President of the PHWF. Mr. Tokay arrived at 12:30 and was joined by media members; Etelka Tatar, Lorant Kovacs, Lukasz Syrek and Mike Pipo. Also in attendance were PHWF members Dr. Karoly Nemeth, Geza Radics and Julianna Zongor, PHWF Recording Secretary. We were especially honored by the presence of Andras Juhasz, Trade Commissioner of Hungary and an Honorary Member of the PHWF.
Fortunately, the day was beautiful so we all enjoyed the meeting, presentation and good company outdoors.
On a sad note, László Tokay died a few weeks later. We all mourn his loss and honor his service and commitment to the Hungarian and Polish communities at large.
